In her role as the superintendent of Westmoreland County Public Schools, Rebecca Lowry oversaw the construction of a new high school and managed district-wide operations. During her tenure as a superintendent for the Virginia school district, Rebecca Lowry leveraged her years of experiences as a school psychologist working with students with special-needs to make informed policy decisions.
In collaboration with the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC), the Virginia Department of Education launched a pilot program designed to connect newly-credentialed special education teachers with professional-development opportunities and helpful publications and resources. Any educator who is teaching special education for the first time during the 2018-2019 school year is eligible for the program.
